Low cost protection from solvent vapours
This solvent respirator contains activated carbon to absorb solvent vapours from the air you breathe. Paint stripping solvent can produce vapours detrimental to your health and together with good ventilation these masks will make the task much more pleasant and safe to do.
You should wear one of these solvent respirators during the whole chemical stripping process. While we have found the Coopers Restoration System produces less solvent vapour than most paint stripping products, there are still vapours that need to be managed.
This disposable solvent respirator is more suited to smaller projects where you may be working for 1 to 2 hours at a time. For bigger projects you may gain greater comfort and economy from the 3M Canister respirator, see below.
This solvent respirator features an exit port to ease breathing and moisture build up. It also includes an aluminium nose strip to help seal around your nose.
The disposable solvent respirator has limited life. When you can smell vapours through the mask, replace it immediately. We recommend that you work with a pair and swap between them each hour. Place the mask you’ve just used out in the fresh air to breathe and dry out while you use the other. This will improve your comfort and extend the mask life a little.
Usage:
As a loose rule of thumb, allow 2-3 masks for every 5 litre Cooper Preparation Pack.
Caution:
These disposable solvent respirators are unsuitable for heat gunning or sanding lead based paint. Use the disposable lead paint respirator when doing the heat gunning stage (see related items below).
However if not heat gunning, you can use these solvent respirators for stripping lead based paint when using just the Coopers Restoration System by itself as there is no dust risk being generated.
