Coopers Restoration System – Exterior Stripping Packs
The Cooper's exterior stripping system is ideal for polyurethaned garage doors, weather board and cedar front doors. If you are looking for a clean strip suitable for reapplying polyurethane, Sikkens, CD-50, oils or Cooper’s Moisturiser on an outside or marine surface then this pack is the better choice to get those surfaces stripped and prepared for finishing.
The big difference with these packs are there is no steel wool, instead brass hand brushes have been substituted. This is because when stripping soft woods like cedar and redwood tiny steel wool filaments may embed themselves in the wood and then rust leaving unsightly marks. The brass brushes eliminate this risk.
Boats
This pack is highly recommended for stripping boat cabins. As there is no steel wool, there is nothing to rust in the salty sea air. Almost every single pot varnish strips well with this product. Two pot finishes can be slow or unsuccessful.
Coverage
The one litre Coopers stripping pack will strip a front door and a 5 litre pack will typically strip 20 square meters of paint or varnish. Use the 5 litre pack on double garage doors as panels have a higher usage rate because of all the detail that needs a little extra.
Project Examples
This pack is ideal for projects such as one of the following examples:
- A large double garage door (with spare margin)
- 5 front doors
- 2 complete entrance ways with side windows, inside and out
- 20 square metres of boat interior
- An outdoor table and 6 chairs. It will remove the old coating, but back mould and silvering will need additional treatment with a mould remover.

Value
You may notice that the cost per pack litre is higher than ordinary retail paint stripper. But don’t be deceived, it’s not the cost per litre that matters, it’s your cost per effective square metre that you’re interested in.
