Villa front door settings can look beautiful when restored back to wood. The timber here is Kauri.
The many thick layers of old paint dating back to over 100 years was stripped firstly by the owner using a heat gun then completed using the Coopers Restoration System. A heat gun is not essential but in some cases can save product cost. Paint this old is usually lead based and it was in this case. This necessitated the use of a lead respirator when heat gunning.
Once the door was stripped it was finished with Coopers Moisturiser. This product is normally used just indoors but it can be effective outdoors especially in sheltered applications. The owner of this property is particularly pleased with the moisturiser and he has used it throughout his home and even on the outside of some windows.
Below is a before photo of the same door.
